When customers add donations at checkout, that money serves a different purpose than your ticket sales. It needs to live somewhere else in your books, especially if you're managing a nonprofit fund or tracking charitable contributions separately for tax reporting.
Now you can assign a unique GL code to each Fund in Opendate. When donation income comes in, it posts directly to the account you specify instead of mixing in with your general revenue. If you run multiple funds—say, an artist relief fund and a venue sustainability fund—each one can route to its own line in your accounting system.
This means cleaner books, easier reconciliation, and proper separation between earned revenue and charitable giving. Your accountant will thank you, and you'll have a much clearer picture of where your money is actually coming from. Set it up once per fund, and every donation flows to the right place automatically.
