Understanding your donors means understanding their relationship with your mission. Some give monthly without fail. Others step up during urgent campaigns. Some have been with you for years, while others just made their first gift last week. Until now, treating all these supporters the same meant missing opportunities to connect in ways that matter to them.
The new Donors tab in Opendate Giving lets you see your supporters organized by what they actually do. You can group people by how often they give, how much they've contributed over time, when they last donated, or whether they give on a recurring schedule. You might create a segment of lapsed donors who gave last year but not this year, or identify your most consistent monthly supporters who deserve special recognition.
Once you've defined these segments, you can shape your outreach to match. Send a targeted appeal to first-time donors explaining where their money goes. Thank your recurring supporters with impact updates that show the cumulative difference they're making. Re-engage people who haven't given recently with a specific project they cared about before. When you speak to donors based on their actual history with your organization, you build stronger relationships and raise more money for your work.
